To be given dominion over another is a hard thing

About This Quote

When you are given dominion over another person, you are given the right to make all of their decisions for them. To be granted the authority to make these decisions for another person is a great honor. However, it is also a great responsibility. People often give up much of their own power in an attempt to protect others from damage.

This is why we see laws and rules governing behavior, even when that behavior does not impact us personally. For example, when we see children crossing the street without looking, we don't mind if they get hit by a car. But we don't want them to get hit because we care about them.

We want them to be safe and we know they will be safe when we tell them what to do and when to do it. When we do not take control and make our own decisions, we put ourselves at risk for acting like a child.
